May 30: A Mamane tree atop Pu'uwa'awa'a, which is a furrowed volcanic cinder cone on the western side of the big island. Our group was helping with the outplanting of both endangered and native species in the dry forest reserve there, and after a hot morning it was good to sit down and draw.
