Shining Silver

I don't know where Mark learned this, but we tried it and it works. Put tarnished silver object(s) in a dishpan lined with aluminum foil. Sprinkle baking soda liberally over the silver. Boil water in a kettle. Pour enough boiling water over the baking soda and silver to cover everything. Some mild fizzing. A slight sulphurous smell. Most tarnish disappears. Remove silver and wipe with a soft cloth or towel to polish it further. Amazing. Cheaper and faster than the store-bought polish, and probably easier on the environment as well.
