there they are


Left as they fell on the table - not the wet, black bough - as snow falls steadily outside.

When I click on the "wet, black bough" it goes to a wiki about haiku. I don't think that was your plan.

It's not the best link, I agree. But the petals on the table made me think of a very short poem from 1913, by Ezra Pound:

In a Station of the Metro

The apparition of these faces in the crowd;
Petals on a wet, black bough.

(This is what comes of degrees in English literature, years later - old poems have a habit of intruding on day-to-day life!)
