The best apricots I ever tasted were dried on a rooftop in Turkey, and had come from a garden halfway down a cliff. Tonight's were the second best, tasting of summer on a cold, cold night.
Liz, we both painted apricots yesterday, though I threw in a blood orange, too. I don't usually buy out of season fruit, but the apricots at my Whole Foods looked so sweet and tender, I had no choice! They tasted fine, but no match for the tree-ripened sort. I note how in your lovely, painterly sketch you invoked the blues and greens of summer.
