bulletin board

This is my new wall-sized bulletin board, made of two large pieces of homasote. Clearing the space for it and dejunking my study took far more time and energy than buying the materials and putting the boards up. That part was done in less than half a day. I tacked some big sheets of paper on it, to offer a space for immediate marks - or to provide a clean work surface for careful preparation of some paper for painting. (Guess what I did with it. ... right. Scribbled in great big satisfying swoops with a chunk of fireplace charcoal. Mmmm.)

You must be excited with the prospect of all the drawing you'll be able to do on it. I have been catching up on your past weeks drawings.

This is so exciting, Liz! I can't wait to see your paintings! Just yesterday I tacked up a big sheet of paper on my studio wall and did the first loose sketch in charcoal for a painting I'm thinking about --- we are really on parallel tracks!

Thanks, I'm excited, too. Just finished my six week painting course (see above), and am raring to go.

Of course we are headed out of town for vacation at the end of the week, but I will paint and draw by the seashore, and the wall will be here ready for me when I return.
