Happy New Year!
day2925.jpg

Snow paused; we went out into it and ran errands.
day2924.jpg

Snow fell overnight and continued to flurry all day.
day2923.jpg

The coleus cutting again- I love the ruffled leaves of it.
day2922.jpg

Home again. Here is a cutting, rooting in a small bottle on the windowsill.

Headed home from our holiday visit. Landscape in black and white.
day2920.jpg

Partly footstool, partly friendly ornament in my parents' house.
day2919.jpg

Christmas tree... everyone's gone upstairs but me.

day2918.jpg

Early morning calm.

Guest room lamp.

Pen and ink in pen and ink. Drawing lines to draw a line.
day2915.jpg

Overcast sky, rain expected to turn to snow. Tomorrow is the last day of school before winter break.

day2914.jpg

Actually, this is a self portrait - the top of my hair as it stands up in interesting ways, with the blue of our bathroom wall behind me.
day2913.jpg

Not snow.
day2912.jpg

Ready to keep things together.
day2911.jpg

Tangled.
day2910.jpg

Treetop, clouds, and wires - natural monochrome at this time of year.

Lime in the kitchen. Sometimes it helps to focus on what's just in front of you.

Garnish from dinner.
day2907.jpg

Two in front of the living room fire. The dog dozes on some pillows, the girl watches videos about how to make things.
day2906.jpg

Is bought and up. No lights yet, but the whole house has that wonderful fir tree scent, and I still have lots of sap to scrub from my hands.
day2905.jpg

Small wooden bird and sticks. Tomorrow we will get the tree...
day2904.jpg

Daughter's green nail polish.
day2903.jpg

Hot water, cinnamon, and orange juice.
day2902.jpg

Still shaking off the flu - but am feeling better enough to sit up and paint a tissue, instead of drawing while lying down.
day2901.jpg

Flu, continued...
day2900.jpg

Flu.

This is one of the no-bake chocolate cookies we make for Christmas every year. They don't last very long at our house, so we sometimes have to make more than one batch.

Here's how you make them:

Chocolate No-Bake Cookies

2 cups sugar

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup butter

6 T. cocoa

3 cups quick oatmeal

1 tsp. vanilla

1/2 tsp. salt

1 cup coconut

1/2 cup chopped nuts

Mix sugar milk and butter in a pan and bring to a rolling boil.  Remove from heat and add the other ingredients.  Mix together and drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.

This is a great recipe to make with small helpers.

Hope you have the sweetest of celebrations!

We had sweet red grapes with dinner.
