The blue skies and warm days of this past week are gone. Rain, chill, verge of November. Sweater weather. Hoping that all on the East Coast in the path of the storm are safe and dry and well prepared, and hoping that the storm is less severe than some of the predictions...

Finally refilled my fountain pens after about a month without them. Forgot how much I like the texture of that kind of line.

When I really stop to look at something, I see so much more than I expected. So many colors in one yellow apple, for instance.
This ballpoint pen looks as if it's getting ready for Hallowe'en. The part that attaches the pocket clip seems like a tiny mask to me. A pen with an attitude.
Suddenly the backyard is showing color - I looked out this afternoon and realized that the serviceberry tree had started turning gold, a sign of autumn.
Necklaces. Never thought about them as neck laces until I accidentally typed a space in the word a moment ago. Will look up the derivation tomorrow...
We have Gerber daisies in the house - the shapes are cheerful.
We have a new dog - so you can expect to see more dog sketches in the coming days and weeks. (He's a very sweet 3 1/2 year old rescue pit bull mix, named Bubbles.)
Or Asian pear, as they are called at our supermarket. When I was growing up, we called them "nashi." I think it's the Japanese name for the fruit. Unripe, they are awful, but ripe, they have the crispness of an apple and the flavor of a pear.
