March 2012 Archives

Taking a little trip this weekend. Will post my drawings when I return.
day2649.jpg

Drawing where the flower isn't.
day2648.jpg

Picked from the front yard.
day2647.jpg

Youngest child likes to bake...
day2646.jpg

Seltzer bottle. Bubbles. Reflections.
day2645.jpg

Crumpled scrap and its shadow.
day2644.jpg

I think this might be a viburnum, but it was only beginning to leaf out, and had only a few scattered blossoms. (I had some free time this afternoon before my flight, so I sat on a bench along the High Line, drew in my sketchbook and watched people take photos of each other.)
day2643.jpg

A sliver of city lights and river.
day2642.jpg

Sunset over the river.  I'm visiting New York and the hotel room's view is spectacular. Feel rather as if I've stepped into a movie set.
day2641.jpg

Everything burst into bloom at once today.

day2640.jpg

After a decaf espresso, fun to look at the shadows on our eccentric little coffee cups. We have a pair of them, gotten as part of some liqueur promotion.
day2639.jpg

The alstroemeria from more than a week ago have still not wilted. A few petals have dropped, and the leaves are beginning to fade and twist, but we'll get a few more days with them.
day2638.jpg

One of my husband's shoes was beside his chair this evening.
day2637.jpg

Rooftops and telephone wires along Ellsworth Avenue.
day2636.jpg

Spring break starts now.

day2635.jpg

Big shapes feel right this evening, as a thunderstorm rumbles into the city.
day2634.jpg

On the table inside, even though it was light enough and warm enough to eat dinner on the porch tonight.

bud

day2633.jpg

Not all the daffodils from the grocery store will open. I don't think I noticed before today how much a daffodil in bud looks like a paintbrush.
day2632.jpg

Not yet from our yard, but before long...
day2631.jpg

Partly drawn with itself.

day2630.jpg

Another lemon, this one on the horizon.
day2629.jpg

Like sunshine in late winter.
day2628.jpg

Part of dinner tonight.
day2627.jpg

Seems odd that the letter S is only worth one point when it's of such strategic importance. (I've been playing more Scrabble lately, in a number of online versions.)
day2626.jpg

Almost covered by the comforter.
day2625.jpg

Began this by trying to draw a rose without outlining the petals - just drawing the shadows and spaces.
day2624.jpg

Drew this over an unfinished drawing, while watching my niece's lacrosse game this afternoon.
day2623.jpg

Monumental at the end of the day.
day2622.jpg

Red camelia in bloom outside of the window. Still in San Francisco.
day2621.JPG

Resting after a day of learning, talking, listening.
