October 2011 Archives

day2499.jpg

Bought to be part of a Halloween costume.  Now simply worn around the house.

Meant to be all-weather shoes, but with the fleece lining, I like the way they feel as slippers.

What was left of the clementines this afternoon.
day2496.jpg

With snow flurries in the forecast, acorn squash may be just the thing for supper tomorrow.
day2495.jpg

That didn't take long at all. Yesterday we had a bowlful of clementines. Today we have one.

After a month of disconnection, I quietly re-opened comments last night to see if the comment spam would start up where it had left off. Checked in the morning: nothing. Checked in the afternoon: nothing. Checked again after supper: still nothing. So I think the storm has passed. (I was getting 3,000 - 4,000 spam comments every day when I turned commenting off.)

Thanks for your patience, and glad to let the conversation resume!

In season again - at any rate, back in the grocery store.

Pages proofread by the end of the evening.

So last night I decide to back up my computer and am using two separate external hard drives to do so - one is running TimeMachine for my laptop, one is backing up my photo library in another way. Redundancy makes me happy. In doing this, I forget about the fact that once I have cables plugged in two of my USB ports, my SD card reader will be too bulky to fit into the third USB port. And I am too sleepy after a long day to think of any of the several work-arounds that seem obvious to me this morning.  A long way of saying that back-ups completed, here's last night's apple sketch! (Public service announcement - are you backed up? Just copy a few key files to someplace else right now, even if you are going to back things up later...)

Bright colors and warmth, as the days and nights grow cooler.

Boxes wrapped and ready to mail. One weekend task accomplished!

Found its way into the house.

day2482.jpg

A day that circulated through heavy rain, gusts of wind, and sunshine with towering clouds. Leaves blew and fell.

At night, a neighbor's white car turns into a collection of shapes.

bag

day2477.jpg

Small zipped bag that I got years ago, when we were living in Iowa. It holds my knitting gauge, stitch holders, tape measure, needlework scissors, yarn needles, and other knitting gadgets and notions.

Some trees have fall colors - others are just beginning to change.

Visiting family for the weekend. Will be more offline than on, enjoying being outdoors.

I highly recommend eating strawberries on your porch after work, if the day is sunny.

Light clipped to the bookshelf.
day2471.jpg

Wilted after three weeks - but more fun to draw the more twisted they get.
day2470.jpg

I love the bold line of my brush pen.
day2469.jpg

A rainy Saturday to begin October. My blue scarf looked like bright water.
