Wasn't sure why I wanted to draw this tonight, but as I was drawing, I realized how much the shape of this pepper grinder reminds me of a lighthouse. Thinking of all those in the path of the hurricane, hoping for their safety in the storm.

A Prima - one of the first local apples of the season. Not sure I'm ready for autumn - we're still reveling in tomatoes and late summer fruits, but back-to-school meetings begin next week, so the new school year is nearly upon us. And the apple is sweet, tart, and crisp.

Pittsburgh has city pools tucked away in unexpected places, with unexpected views. This one is built near the top of Polish Hill, and you can look at the hills across the Allegheny river as you swim.

I was supposed to be home tonight, but the flight was cancelled (after I had checked my bags, naturally) and I'm not rebooked until tomorrow. Back to the now-empty apartment for a quiet evening, and I'll try again in the morning.

I was tempted to add color to this drawing with the tea itself, but - frugal soul that I am - I think I can get another cup out of the bag, if I don't rub it all over my sketchbook first.
