Holding on to the end of the book at the end of the day...

In the apartment where I'm staying, one chair has five feet, and the lamp beside it has three. I feel as if I've wandered into a math problem.
Not even ripe yet. So promising, though. I will need to pay attention, since I'm leaving it out on the countertop.

A new pencil makes me think of school starting - and it is, in a way. I'm headed out of town to teach in a summer program, and will be away from home for six weeks. I'm supposed to have internet access in the apartment where I'll be staying, but if it takes a day or so to get it straightened out, please know that I'm drawing, and will post as soon as I can.
Closed my eyes and drew the sounds of the house at night: fans, a child walking upstairs, deep breathing of someone asleep. Added color after opening my eyes again.

We went out tonight to see some friends at an open mic night. Have scarcely been to that tavern since graduate school. The pierogies were as good as I remembered. I drew my Guinness before I finished it...
My camera is on the table. After I finish drawing it, I think - I wonder if my camera is upstairs or down--I need to take a picture of my drawing. Must be sleepy, as it took a moment to figure things out.

Sat in the back yard tonight as everything got darker and darker. Painted this rose to see what happens when I just keep looking and sketching in the dark. I know where the colors are in my palette, but once the brush is loaded with color, I can't see color differences on the page.
