For groceries, or objects brought home from other errands.

City pools are not yet open for the season, so we visited a nearby suburb today. This drawing was done with china marker, in white on the white paper.  Then I washed over it with color so that the lines would show up. The process is full of chance and happy accident, as I can't see the drawing until I add paint.

Pruned rose bushes in the morning, before it got too hot.

First we've bought this season. Sweet.  Crisp. Wet. Half was left after dinner outside - it will become breakfast or tomorrow's dessert.

Fallen petal. The last of the lilies from three weeks ago.

A grape stem makes me think of old maps and anatomy books.

Sometimes with a slightly lighter sound and then a few minutes later roaring again.

The stems of the lilies are graceful even after the last petal has fallen.

The flowers I got for  Mother's Day are still in bloom.

day2335.jpg

Two days in the country, and I said to myself, "Well, if I can't find an internet connection, I can always try to post with my cell phone."

No service.

So I had a break from all communication, continued sketching, and now I'm back.

Electroluminescent wire, ready to be put into a project of my own after last weekend's workshop. I think it's going to illuminate the back of a thrift shop jacket.

My voter's receipt, slightly crumpled after half a day in my pocket.

Snip of green leather. This was between books at the moment, rather than between pages, so it was on the bedside table. (I generally have several books going at once, and have lots of bookmarks - some found, some improvised.)

A garnish from dinner - some was left, and will probably be mixed into my lunch for tomorrow.

day2329.jpg

A rainy evening, and a cup of tea was just what I wanted while listening to water falling on leaves and street.

Early morning, and ductwork on the building across the way is silhouetted against the sky.

day2321.jpg

Unexpectedly in New York City for the weekend. Not enough unscheduled time to meet up with friends, but I did spend a little while looking at the shapes outside the hotel window.

day2320.jpg

The trees outside have green leaves opening, softening city views, erasing background detail and painting it over with cloudlike rustling shapes. And a more organized person would have drawn such a tree today, instead of arriving home after dark, after the child's school event, and saying, "Ah, a green toothpick."

Saw breaking news on Twitter, and stayed up to listen to the President's speech. (Lilac cut from the yard - President Lincoln is the variety.)
