studio - another view

I'm so enjoying the time to look, to experiment with different materials in a different environment. For this studio still life, I made marks with a stick dipped in sepia acrylic ink, beginning the drawing with my eyes closed.  The line moved in unexpected ways as I gave over control to the skittering sputtering inky gesture, and then followed where it led me. So much to learn from experiments like this, and a great way to un-stick old habits. (The red is not ink, coming instead from a chalk pastel stick dipped in water.)

Oh, I loooove this! The newness of the space around you, your "skittering sputtering inky gesture", the woodstove-like beings you created. The colors and the brushy treatment also whisper to me of Japanese art...
