Larger than the tip of my thumb, bright and sweet. Not local, but we've been buying them anyway.

And I remember that drawing without looking at the page lets me be with the shapes and edges of a thing, lets me feel the line as a path, a rhythm.

Now in full bloom... Today's storm swept through, but the blossoms stayed put, and after the rain, their scent is stronger in the yard - mixed with an undernote of spring mud.

On the coffee table - was used for a homework project this week (fractions), and then for making a birthday card.

As my tulip bulbs age - I don't know how many years ago this one was planted - the blossoms get smaller and wilder-looking and I like them even better.

Summer weather makes me think of summer flavors...

Weather shifted very suddenly this morning - and after a burst of rain and even some hail, we had temperatures jump above 80 degrees. I'm looking forward to barefoot days and blue skies through the weekend.

I know they are a summer vegetable - but the crisp taste always makes me think of spring. We had these with hummus tonight.

I love stationery and office supplies. This is a mini-clipboard, half the size of a regular one, and just right for taking a couple of pieces of drawing paper with me. I may get a chance to sit still and draw, and I may not, but just knowing that I can draw if I want to, is good.

Now that I have a metal board and magnets in my office, I rarely use thumbtacks any more.

And so the week begins with the hamster safely home again. He's busy in his wheel. I'm resting.

After a day of hiding out and exploring the downstairs, our prodigal hamster returned. He allowed himself to be picked up and is now safe in his cage again.

Spent some time sitting in the performance tent at the carnival, listening to music, watching parents and children, thinking about a few projects I'm working on, and enjoying the warmth and shade.

Spool of conductive thread - was sewing LEDs onto a jacket this evening.

I pick up orphan game pieces as I find them - at rummage sales, in flea market box lots, and even on the sidewalk. It's as if I know that one day the game is coming and I'll need to play...

Sliced up, tossed with olive oil, and baked on a cookie sheet to go with dinner tonight.

The big bunch of balloons came home from a party. Aside from a few popped on purpose, the rest have held together for more than a week.

I was given some ginger candy for Easter. Of course I had to eat this one, in order to draw the wrapper.

Last Saturday's cut flowers have faded, the daffodils in our yard have not really begun, but I got these today as an early Easter present, and they light up the livingroom.

After dinner...

Rechargeable AA battery from a project-in-progress. I'm gradually learning more about electronics and circuits and physical computing these days. How does it connect with my other work? I haven't discovered that part yet, but drawing daily - if nothing else - has taught me the value of trusting the exploration.

The box carried leftover soup to work today. The reused plastic bag carried the box.

We cut up found cardboard to make flowers on Saturday, and we still have a few of them left around the house. I think this was part of a butter box.

Don't look now, but I think I see it s...n...o...w...i...n...g... outside.

The city is beginning to bloom - the early-blossoming trees and shrubs are showing color; other branches are dotted with pale green.

I bought three bunches of daffodils at the market today, and now have them in vases scattered around the downstairs. I want to see spring.

We went out. Kids ate pizza.

Heirloom tomato plant - not sure what variety, but the colleague who gave me three of them said the taste is incredibly good.
