Went to see The Seafarer at City Theatre tonight. This is part of the set from the first act.

Cotton knit loop for a child's loom. We discovered that we have enough to warp the loom, but not enough left to weave a pot-holder. (And we have more than enough to find spare loops around the house.) Maybe we'll use old t-shirt bits or left-over yarn to weave with, instead. Maybe we'll put it away again. Maybe we'll leave it on the table for three-and-a-half weeks while we make up our minds.

Half a saltine. A quiet day. A found day. I love having an unexpected day off. Spent most of it reading Jane Austen and helping our youngest learn a new way to make friendship bracelets. Then went out for a drink and came back with my head full of ideas.

And while we only had a two-hour delay today, tomorrow all the local schools will be closed for the cold weather, giving us a four-day holiday, which will then be followed by the inauguration... Plenty of time to enjoy the warmth of household and family, to reflect on history, act in service, and look towards the future.

A faucet not quite turned off. A sink overflowed. On the first floor, a sudden and unexpected rainstorm. Some running up and down stairs with towels. One spaghetti pot, one stock pot, one large mixing bowl, and the nearby Ficus tree are put beneath the steadiest of the dripping. After it dries out, all will be o.k., I think. Already the drops have slowed.

Spent today puttering around the house, working on small projects, thinking about the year ahead, and cooking a big family dinner.
Oh, and the AP picked up a story about our Pittsburgh Signs Project book, so we jumped up and down a bit and sent links to friends.
