the drawing drawing

To celebrate my 1000th day of drawing on Monday, I've invited everyone to a virtual event, a distributed drawing party. I've asked everyone to draw something on that day, and then to leave a comment about it on that day's blog post.

And what's a distributed drawing party without a drawing to distribute? I've made the sketch above, and I'll draw a name of one of the commenter/participants, and send the picture to that person. It could be you.

Here's how it will work. Sometime during Monday, September 24, draw a picture. When the "drawing one thousand" post appears on this site, post a comment to let me know that you drew. To allow for people in different time zones, I'll keep comments on that post open until midnight (EDT) Tuesday, September 25. On Wednesday, I'll put all the names in a cap and draw one out. Then I'll email that person and find out where to send the picture.

Thank you all for your continuing visits and support and encouragement - let's have fun tomorrow!

what a wonderful idea.. I am going to go draw something right now!

Love your sky here. As a quiet reader so far, would also love to draw and participate in your celebration.
Happy 1000th drawing!

I drew a box filled with words, then another and another. Four altogether. Then I let the words migrate and address each other. Made them bridges and roads between the boxes.. It is a meditation, in a way, to show the way words cluster together in groups and make an effort to respolve them by consciously moving them into other groups. too wordy, I know.

I drew a sketch in celebration to your 1000th day of drawing. The sketch was the corner of a booth and a chair and table where I was sitting late this morning at one of my favourite caf├ęs.

I was treating myself to a cup of green tea after working diligently a few hours at home.

The drawing was poor, but it inspired me to try again. This time I just drew the pattern of the upholstery covering the chair. That was fun. I never realised how wonderful the pattern was: rather whimsical, though still managing to remain subtle.

It was lovely to draw. Even though I can't draw. It was a time to open up my mind and take notice. Thank you. I think I will try it again tomorrow!

I awake each day eager to download your site. I drew a fake owl that sits on a railing of my deck. He has sat at his post for 23 years and I don't remember even why he was put there. I thought it was time to honor him for his unfailly duty of scaring away other critters (even if it was uneffectual).

Congratulations on your 1,000th drawing!! What a milestone. Thanks for posting all these wonderful drawings. I just drew a picture of our cute dog, Scarlet and it was really fun.

I drew something today, was really relaxing! im going to do this more often.

For those intrested, this is what i drew

hope you like it :)

Ah - we're the early birds, looks like, waiting for the official celebration to begin! I posted my own sketch at my site - a picture of the replacement wedding band my husband gave me just a few days ago after I lost the original this spring. . . .

Congratulations on your 1000th drawing - and may you be touched and amazed by the outpouring of response and affirmation of those who are daily inspired by your encouraging creativity! Here's looking forward to the next 1000. . . .

Looked forward to drawing all morning. Just now I drew images that represent two current loves: my garden and tennis! Images were parsley just picked and my "old wharf lot" hat. Thanks for the inspiration!

thanks, liz, for all the inspiration! Got my daily drawing up (900 posts for me) and wanted you to know how much woolgathering means to me. Keep on keepin' on!

I just now drew a gift I gave my dearly beloved some years back. It's a little clay-and-wire Dia de los Muertos figure -- a skeleton seated at a rickety table tapping out words on a typewriter. It's a memento mori, and it's a token of my faith and affection. And I chose to draw it because I'm forever drawing death's-heads on scraps of paper bearing words of mild warning ("Don't drink water from this tumbler! Contains contact lenses!"), and I can scribble a cartoonish skull like nobody's business. After that, a ribcage, appendages, table, and typewriter just came naturally.

My felicitations on your arrival at the millennium. May you (and we) enjoy many many more.

Congratulations on your first 1000! I have very much enjoyed your drawings . . . today I drew my right foot in its new shoe. I guess that is symbolic, in a way, of this whole journey!

Kudos on reaching your 1000th day! Thanks for sharing your drawings, musings, links to other artists and interesting topics . The journey from day one has been remarkable. What an accomplishment! It is really inspiring. This year has been especially rich. I particularly enjoyed your rendition of places I've seen.

After a long hiatus, today I drew my feet first in pen, then in pencil.
