en route

Painted in the car, somewhere on a back road in Virginia. The drive home was long but beautiful, as we took smaller roads where we could, and we had lots of time for talking, imagining new projects, playing the animal game and the alphabet game, and stopping at scenic overlooks. We bought peaches and pecans and ate them as we went along. We planned other trips. And at the very end, we just hung on and knew that we'd be home soon.

And so we are.

This is so simple but beautiful. I love the way you captured the drive and the passage of time in your words also.
