I just got a couple of new VERY fine point fountain pens, filled one with brown ink and was trying it out tonight. Sometimes fine lines let me get intense... obsessive... as on the night last winter when I drew salt. So today I was making a conscious effort to let the lines stay rapid and loose. Obsessive stippling will come one of these evenings, though, because the pens are so much fun to use.

This is lovely, so delicate.

Very pretty and, yes, loose.

I am devoted to fountain pens--would you be willing to share what kind these are? Any favorite sources. I've been enjoying your blog(s) for several months now. Thanks!

Thanks!

Carolyn - I linked to the particular pen models in the blog post above. Made by Hero, and called "The Accountant," I believe. I got them via email-order from Norman Haase at www.hisnibs.com. He has a terrific assortment of pens available, always changing, and excellent customer service.

I agree, this drawing is so soft and light and delicate, it is lovely!

this makes me think the groundhog was right and spring really is right around the corner (tell that to the poor fish frozen under the ice sheet on the pond with the doves pecking the ice for water).
