city view

We went to the skate park on Polish Hill today. While the skateboarder did his stuff, the rest of us drew or read or talked or played on the playground equipment. Here you can see the dome of the Immaculate Heart of Mary between the buildings on 30th street.

I got to know many neighborhoods of Pittsburgh by getting lost in them the first year I lived there. When I saw that dome I instantly remembered the day I got lost and ended up in Polish Hill. Somehow the sight of that dome is always unexpected and thrilling, even in a pen and ink drawing.

i really enjoy your journal. it inspires me.

I can't quite put my finger on the exact reason why, but I really love your ink drawings. Beautiful.

Thank you so much.

By the way, if you want another view of this same church, - see the entry for December 4. (If you like my pen and ink drawings, I am posting a pen and ink drawing of Pittsburgh on that group blog every Monday night.)
