landscape study

What started as a drawing of a sleeping child became an aerial landscape as I worked, tonight, remembering the weight of the covers, the edge between water and land, sleep and thought, child and blanket.

mmm...evocative words

The color and carriage of the arm is creepy to me, though not as much when I look at the larger version. Was that intentional?

When I decided to add color, I wanted to work with non-natural shades, so I began by washing the arm with diox. purple. The other color choices evolved from that beginning.

As for the posture, she fell asleep that way, and did not move much while I was drawing.
