polar bear (orange)

Clay polar bear, glazed orange. Recent ceramic work by the youngest member of the household. I'm reminded of William, the unofficial mascot of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. (I don't know whether our polar bear has a name yet, though.)

...and I'm reminded of the sculpture you made at art camp that lived on the porch at No. 1 for many decades.

I'd forgotten about that soapstone hippo! It is now our kitchen doorstop. Hmmm. Does that make it an environmental influence on my daughter's work, or does it instead suggest some deep inherited feeling for heavy quadrupeds?
