Thanks for posting the video. When I was working at the university last year, we did a whole series of seminars on the topic. It was fun to look at the animation and know what was behind those thoughts.
As far as your utopian or dystopian question goes, that certainly remains open. I think if you are talking about registering water breaks and rerouting traffic accordingly, that is one thing. If you are talking about turning on a sprinkler because we are too busy or stupid to turn it on ourselves, we have to be careful of eventually becoming Wall-e creatures. We should be careful about developing smart systems to take away the need to accomplish stupid or tedious tasks.
